As many of you may remember I posted a few months ago about moisturizer recommendations. I had so many great recommendations so I went out and bought or got samples of a few that were listed. I have super dry skin year round especially in the winter months. I am acne prone and desperately need quality face products to balance my skin. These products may work great for you and not so great for me. This review is based on how it worked for my skin.
Tarte Drink of H20 Hydrating Boost
“Treat skin to this skin quenching water gel” – Tarte. I really love the packaging of this moisturizer. I love Tarte products because of the natural ingredients. This has a light natural smell and a gel texture. It goes on great but I don’t know if I would use this morning and night as I feel like the gel sits on your face for a long time before absorbing. I would use this in the morning if I wasn’t going to wear makeup over top. When I put it on before bed my face felt sticky on my pillow. It works great though!
Most moisturizers sting when I put them on because my skin is so dry. This didn’t sting at all and a little goes a long way! I bought a 15 ml and it has lasted over a month with everyday use and could last another month. The full size would probably last 8-12 months depending on how often and how much you use.

Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer
“Complete all day UV moisturizer for sensitive skin has a light, non-greasy and gentle formula that provides moisture while helping to protect your sensitive skin from daily incidental sun exposure” – Olay. This was my least favourite of them all. I bought the full size 120 ml bottle from the drugstore.
It stung my face and smells so strong like sunscreen even though it says fragrance free. I love the fact it has SPF 15 but it is basically straight up sunscreen and not a moisturizer. It also doesn’t absorb well and leaves white on my face. I will not use this again unless I am on vacation to use as sunscreen on my face. I wanted to try all products for at least 2 weeks but I only used this one for a week because I couldn’t stand the smell.
You can buy this from any drugstore for $15.00
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum
“Formulated for all skin types, this hydrating gel instantly infuses skin with optimal hydration to plump and minimize the appearance of fine line and wrinkles” – First Aid Beauty. I used my Sephora points to get this 7.5 ml bottle. It lasted almost 2 weeks since a little goes a long way!
This one is very similar to the Tarte moisturizer I talk about above. My issue with this one is that I couldn’t put it on and put makeup over top as it took hours to fully absorb into my skin and I didn’t want to put it on before bed because my face felt sticky. This really does work well but was inconvenient. I don’t wear makeup everyday so it wasn’t a huge issue but when I wanted to it made it hard to wear the moisturizer. I used this once a day and seen a huge change! Another bonus is that it’s scent free and is a gel like texture.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
“Formulated to combine all day moisture with skin strengthening ingredients for very dry skin”-Clinique. This is my favourite one for so many reasons! No stinging, absorbs quickly even though it has a gel texture and a little goes a long way!
The price is on the cheaper side and is fragrance free which is an added bonus. I would pay anything for this though as it really does work. I can put it on in the morning and apply my makeup minutes after. My face is so soft and I am having way less breakouts in only 2 weeks of using it. I have bought 2 15 ml sample size bottles withy my Sephora points. 15 ml has lasted me 2-2.5 weeks. I will be buying the full size once I have used these up.

Tarte Brighter Days Highlighting Moisturizer
” This lightweight facial lotion is formulated with 70% water and light reflecting mineral pigments to quench dull, dehydrated skin”- Tarte. This was more of a fun one that I had Sephora credits to get so decided why not try it out. The reviews aren’t great and say that it looks sparkly on the skin. I got the 15 ml sample size and have worn it 5 times. I think it would last 10-12 applications if you did your whole face.
I found it had a nice subtle shimmer and would wear it on no makeup days or under my makeup. It absorbs quickly but you do need to use a decent amount of product to cover your face. As far as moisturizing goes it does moisturize but not to the extent the other ones I reviewed did. I think this is more of a holiday or special occasion moisturizer for when you want a glow. I am excited to use this on vacation because I think it will look amazing when the sun reflects off of it. I have also read good reviews on mixing it in with your foundation and applying it that way.
