What would ever possess me to want to do a juice cleanse? Anyone who knows me personally would know that I LOVE food. It started off with two days of low energy and eventually turned into a cold on the third day. After not working out other than walking everyday I could not stop craving crap. Which I ate that then lead to me feeling even more like crap. I kicked my two coffee a day habit months ago and was back to having two cups before 1 pm everyday. I needed a change and to stop craving caffeine and crap food. After 5 days of feeling like this I knew I needed to do something before this went on any longer and ruined my results I had worked so hard for.
I was in Prince George and walked past Freshii which I never knew existed or anything about it. I went in to check it out and seen the ‘Freshii 3 Day Juice Cleanse’ and immediately wanted to try it. “Detoxify and energize your body with the Freshii Juice Cleanse. Juicing is a natural way to press your body’s reset button and super-charge your nutrient intake.”-Freshii. The following morning I picked up my Freshii for the day before heading off to finish our shopping. I stopped to pick up the freshly made juices and salads before we headed home that night. Why I decided to start a cleanse on Easter long weekend? I Clearly wasn’t thinking straight.
They suggest to start each morning with lemon water and to drink a juice every 2.5-3 hrs. Ending each day with the detoxifying salad. Drinking 8-10 glasses of water in addition to the juices. They also suggest you consume them in the following order for optimal results.
1- Green Energy
This juice is very tart and has apple, cucumber, kale, lemon, romaine and spinach in it.
This juice was my least favourite as it is very tangy. It has carrot, turmeric, pineapple, ginger and lemon.
3- Mighty Detox
I really enjoyed this juice as it gave me that sugar I needed to get through the late afternoon. It has pineapple, cucumber, celery, apple and ginger.
4- Red Power
This was my favourite juice but it also took me a long time to drink it compared to the others. It has beet, carrot, lemon and ginger.
5- Metaboost Salad
Love this salad! So amazing with all the combined ingredients of field greens, spinach, kale, carrots, mango, edamame, almonds, goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette.
The day started off great with no hungers pains, headache or temptations probably because I kept busy all day shopping. I got through all three juice’s with no complaints and was thinking this is so much easier than I thought it would be.
At 7 pm I ate my salad for dinner and then it went downhill from there. I felt so nauseous that I NEEDED more food or just had horrible will power. I ate a few strawberries as the guide says if you need to eat you can eat raw or lightly cooked fruit or veggies. Well that made me feel even worse so I caved and ate a protein bar. Immediately after I felt great and finished sipping my last juice I had started drinking with my salad.
Other than walking around the mall and Costco I did no exercise this day as recommended. If you do want to do something they suggest walking, light yoga or stretching. I slept great but woke up with a massive headache which leads to me to day 2.
I woke up feeling groggy and with a headache after a long sleep. One positive was that I woke up with hardly any symptoms of the cold I had the day before. I drank 1 litre of lemon water followed by a cup of my new favourite herbal tea ‘Coco-Colada’ from David’s Tea in place of my usual coffee before I drank my first juice. I noticed on this day that it took me way longer to finish my juice. At lunch time with my second juice I had a moment of weakness and ate half of a Lara Bar before feeling guilty and throwing away the rest.
I went for an hour walk and did 25 minutes of yoga and was feeling hungry around 4, not like the day before but I knew I needed food as the juice wasn’t cutting it. I had 1/3 of an apple and 3 large strawberries and amazingly that filled me up! By 4:45 I was finished the first 3 juices and was feeling great!
The rest of the night seemed to drag on. I ate my salad while drinking my last juice and basically just waited until I could go to bed and get the next day over with.
Woke up exhausted even though I had a solid 9 hours of sleep. Looked in the mirror and looked 10 lbs lighter! I won’t weigh myself until the end but I feel so much lighter but also so much more flat, my abs are not popping like they usually would be. Unfortunatley I woke up early today giving me more time in the day to give in and eat. I feel like this day was the hardest because the finish line was in sight which meant I had all the things I wanted to eat on my mind.
The day started off with 1 litre of lemon water followed by the first juice of the day. The second juice made me want to die. So strong and made me more nauseous with every sip. I drank half of it and threw it out. Instead I had a handful of spinach and 1/3 of a yellow pepper. After lunch decided to do a 30 minute ab workout my easiest workout of the week. Holy crap I have never sweat that bad during abs before and I had to stop so many times to catch my breath. Followed by my third juice of the day.
3 pm hit and it went downhill from there. I felt so nauseous and not even hungry nauseous. The thought of drinking the last juice made me want to vomit even thinking of it. I ate a Lara Bar that I normally love and it tasted so bland, then I ate a few bites of banana but still felt like crap. I don’t know if my mind or my body hated me more. Ate my salad for dinner and threw out my last juice after trying to drink it and gagging after every sip. Ended the day with a few bites of ice cream. Let’s say day 3 was a fail.
I had really high hopes for clearer skin and getting rid of my cold but neither happened. As for feeling energized that did not happen. Yes my cold symptoms weren’t as bad after day 1 but I still have it. I really thought I would have the hardest time with not having my daily coffee’s but honestly I didn’t even notice. I’m still wishing I could have stuck to the cleanse 100% which I clearly did not by still having to eat food other than the salad. I have poor self control when it comes to food.
The positives are that I am not bloated and I feel full now after super small portion sizes. I did lose 4 pounds but I’m sure ill gain it back within a week. If you want a quick fix (remember quick fixes don’t last) for weight loss I would recommend this. Would I do it again? Probably not as I could hardly last the 3 days and felt exhausted the whole time.
